Why word frequency matters
AI writing tools tend to repeat certain words heavily. A frequency count makes those patterns visible instantly: if "seamless", "leverage", or "robust" appears a dozen times in a 500-word draft, you can see it in seconds and replace the repetitions before anyone else does.
The same analysis is useful for your own writing. Editors use frequency counts to catch verbal tics, check keyword density for SEO, and verify that important terms appear consistently throughout a document.
What the options do
- Ignore common words. Filters out articles, prepositions, and conjunctions like "the", "and", "in" so the list shows only the words that carry meaning.
- Case sensitive. Treats "Apple" and "apple" as different words. Off by default, which is right for most prose.
Export options
Copy the list as plain text for a quick paste into a document, or download a CSV to open in Excel or Google Sheets for further analysis. The CSV includes every word in the text, not just the top 50 shown on screen.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a word?
Any sequence of two or more letters, including accented characters. Numbers, punctuation, and single letters are excluded.
Why are common words filtered out by default?
Words like 'the', 'and', and 'is' appear in almost every text and would dominate the list without adding useful information. The filter removes about 60 of the most frequent English function words.
Does it work for languages other than English?
The word-splitting and counting work for any Latin-script language. The stop-word filter only covers English, so for other languages leave it off.
How many words does the CSV export include?
All of them. The on-screen list shows the top 50 by default with a button to load more, but the CSV always contains the complete frequency table.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Counting runs in your browser and the text never leaves your device.
